Progress Week 3
1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.” Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Philippians 4:6 states, “Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Ephesians 6:18 states, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” Mark 11:24 declares, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Colossians 4:2 proclaims, “Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.” I could go on and on but we all know we need to pray. Prayer keeps us in tune with Him, in touch with Him, and intact because of Him. We are never exempt from prayer because it is essential to our existence and expansion. Prayer allows us to gain blessings and grow from brokenness. Prayer gives hope to overcome and gives help to the overlooked. God’s providence is only activated when prayer is initiated.
Jesus came from heaven, to be born in a trough. He grew up learning to be a carpenter until at the age of 30, He commenced to changing the world. He preaches and teaches to the masses while angering some of the most influential members in society. Those were the chief priests, scribes, elders, Pharisees, and Sadducees. They lie and frame Jesus who is then arrested and tried in a kangaroo court. Found guilty of blasphemy and sentenced to die (Luke 22:69-71). He was crucified at Golgotha and dies (Matthew 27:32-56). His dead body is buried in the tomb that belonged to Joseph of Arimathea where it lies for three days. He rises on the third day, rolls the stone away, scared the guards to a frightening standstill, witnessed to the women, and rounded up His disciples. He gave some final instructions, ascended to heaven, and sits at the right hand of God to intercede for us (Matthew 28:1-20, Romans 8:34). You think He did all that for nothing? And you don’t see the utmost importance of prayer in the life of a Christian? We need Prayer!!
