Misguided Week 1

Faith was Superficial, not Strong

The last point of emphasis on why we are misguided is that our faith is in everything but Christ.  We say we trust God, and faith is what draws God near to us.  Faith is what lures the Holy Spirit to a person.  First, you can never get God’s attention without faith (Hebrews 11:6). Faith attracts the Holy Spirit because it calls for disciples to blindly follow Him no matter where He may lead (2 Corinthians 5:7).   Faith is vital in the life of a Christian and should be continuously utilized in life.  Faith is why we overcome all odds and achieve.  Faith births fortitude, which brings favor. Favor is crucial because God will always honor faith in Him (Jeremiah 1:12).

Faith is how you get His attention and also why one receives blessings upon blessings.  Jeremiah just told us He literally goes around the universe looking to fulfill His word.  What we see in this day and age is that people know God.  They know the Gospel.  They know He will!  Regrettably, many know Him, but few believe in Him.  Many individuals merely believe in His existence.  This viewpoint is what I describe as superficial.  People know, but they do not believe.  Even Satan knows Jesus is the Son of God and died for humanity to be redeemed (James 2:19).  You see people trusting in their bank more than their bible.  Authentic faith allows a believer to fall and still be successful.  Real faith brings the wherewithal to overcome failure because we believe He has overcome the world (John 16:33).

How can you acknowledge Jay Z and Beyoncé as a power couple, but they don’t know your name nor come to your assistance when you need it?  Why exactly are they a power couple?  Jesus came from heaven and laid His life down on a cross just because you cried out, “Help me, Lord.”  Jesus went through torment, pain, and actual hell so we sinful ingrates can come out of ignorance into intelligence; so, we could shun absurdity for enlightenment, dormancy for elation, and carelessness for consciousness.  We should value faith with the utmost sincerity and respect because of what faith is. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, …” (Hebrews 11:1).  Faith is how God opens up endless possibilities to His children (1John 5:5).

As long as our faith in Christ is authentic and continually binding with the Holy Spirit, it will bring us out of any situation.  When our faith is in anything or anyone except Christ, failure and calamity are practically guaranteed.  Acts 5:38-39 tells us,  “And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it—lest you even be found to fight against God.” For the month of October, the points to follow will delve into how a misguided person can reset their thinking, actions, and outlook if they let go and let God.
