Misguided Week 1
Following Sanctuaries, not the Savior
To say, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” does not mean “I can do some things through a church which I give to for help and hope to hear from them every now and then.” My friends and family know this one truth about me, and that is I hate Church Folks. Let us not confuse Church Folks with Christians. Hebrews 11:6 states it is impossible to please God without faith. Church folks have succeeded in bamboozling believers in supporting buildings, not the Bible. Christians have to supplant church folks because a church is a House of God, not property of a family, company, brand, or pastor. If you go to a worship service, count how many times you hear Jesus instead of pastor, director, brother so-and-so, or sister so-and-so.
True believers (Christians) have to battle tradition, ignorance, power grabs, and other carnal manipulations at work. Buildings collapse, but not one’s blessing. Pastors die, but not His presence. We have to get to a place where Jesus is lifted and realize denominations are more preference than perfect. I genuinely do not care where one goes to church. I care about whether or not Christ is in you. Many Church Folks follow their church, pastor, or ministry but cannot follow Christ and share the Gospel with a lost person. We are proud of our ministers but cannot make mention of the Master of our souls. Lift Christ, not church. Gathering in an ekklesia is to benefit and edify the body of Christ. Proverbs 3:5-6 claims He is directing our paths and making them straight for us to not only serve but live for Him. Unfortunately, some congregants have no issue just serving their local church. However, I can’t understand how they are living in service but never become a servant. Is your light shining for Jesus or a brochure with 993 ways to give money to a church who cannot show you the way to life and life more abundantly?
Jesus died for you, not the choir, trustees, or a board of individuals who choose to be inspired for personal gain and not personal growth. Paul was elated and encouraged to send Timothy to Philippi. Because Paul’s faith was lacking in the local leadership, he told Timothy the following: “For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. 21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus.” Buildings collapse. People come and go. Pastors die. Choirs are hit or miss. Do not be double-minded and unstable in all your ways following that sanctuary and ignoring your Savior.
